Hi Darren. You may not remember me, but I was one of your first customers! Anyway, computer problems abound these days. I tried Darik’s Boot And Nuke from your web site and it failed when I booted the computer from the disk…Then I tried Active@ KillDisk, but it wouldn’t save to a disk. It saved to my c: drive. I have started to run it, but what will happen? Will it still delete everything???
Hi Art, in order to wipe the hard drive Windows is installed on you will have to boot from a CD Boot disc. In order to create the disc follow the instructions below.
Download the free Windows+DOS version of Active Active@ KillDisk here http://www.killdisk.com/downloads/KillDiskSuiteFree-Setup.exe. After the download completes run the file “KillDiskSuiteFree-Setup”, accept the license agreement. For type of install select “Complete” then choose “Next” and “Install”. After the install finishes you will see “Installation Complete” and there will be a check box to launch the Boot Disk Creator. Check the box “Yes, I would like to launch Boot Disk Creator” then click “Finish”. A new screen will appear asking you to select your media. Select CD/DVD/Blu-ray then click “Next”. Put a blank CD or DVD into your CD/DVD burner drive now. On the next screen the selection box should be on Boot into DOS. Check “Next”, the click “Create” When done you will see “Boot disc successfully created”.
You can now boot your computer from the CD/DVD. Once Active@ KillDisk is loaded you will select the option “Active@ Killdisk [Free]“.
If your still not sure how to create the CD or what to do after booting from the CD, stop by my office and I will give you a demo and a copy of the CD.
